Long before December 7, 1941 became “NATIONAL PEARL HARBOR REMEMBRANCE DAY” in American history, my grandfather, Clifford Bell, was making his own day of precious memories on December 7, 1927, by declaring everlasting love to his bride of nearly three months. Instead of returning from a honeymoon, grandfather was in New York working and grandmother, Mattie Williams Bell, was in Augusta with their daughter and other family members.
