Such a great story. How did you find the letters or did your family save them?

Hi Zipporah Banyay. Love your name. Forgive me, I think a reply meant for someone else was mistaking sent to you.

Regarding your comment. I have many letters which cover about a 60 year period. They were save initially by my great grandmother and then by successive generations. I always had a strong interest in writing and history so they sort of fell into my hands. I call it divine guidance. They have brought me such joy and are allowing me to learn about myself while learning about the ancestors. I didn’t know my great grandmother, but I did know all of the other writers and senders of letters/postcards that make up The Mary Marshall Collection.

Thank you 🙏🏾 that’s beautiful. That is divine guidance. I was able to gather some information from my family about my ancestors I was able to look up certain things and start a family tree. I had a close relationship with my great grandmother, and I never forgot her. I keep her memory alive. Thanks 🙏🏾 for sharing your letters with us.

Thank you. Yes, letters of ancestors and other written memorabilia lend themselves to great stories. I’m still surprised at how similar some of my experiences are to theirs. I’d love to read some of your mother’s concerns about her dating. Life was different then but oh so familiar in many ways.

What a great story! I have my mom's diary from the early 30s when she was in high school. She had lots of anxiety about boys she was seeing, including my dad. He left Indiana to work in Washington, D.C., and she was really concerned about him at that time. I love seeing old letters and bringing old love stories back to life. Thanks.
